Art Integration
Art has a powerful way of enhancing long-term and meaningful learning (Hardiman, 2014).
By implementing an art integration project per unit, students can demonstrate content mastery in an original and inventive way. This strategy of assessment allows for multitude of data to that allows me, the educator, to identify each student’s learning needs and to develop differentiated learning experiences. This option particularly supports my English Language Learners and Special Education students tremendously. They are able to draw their comprehension instead of developing sentences for a writing or taking a multiple choice exam.

3. Students read a procedural text about making paper airplanes. After reading the passage, students followed the step by step directions to create their own airplanes. Once the planes were folded, students took the time to design them. We then took the planes and made them into classroom decor. Engagement for this lesson was high, and student data showed tremendous academic success as well. Daily Exit Ticket Questioning allowed for ninety-two percent of students to master the objective.
